Comments: Peter,
I regret the long delay in replying to your query regarding a qualification badge worn by Air OP crew. There is no evidence that we have uncovered that indicates a badge that may have been issued to Air OP ground crew or observers. The only insignia was the epaulette loop stated "Air OP" in red on a blue Melton cloth loop slipped onto the epaulette. I note however that members of 1 Air OP Flight wore a half wing on their armlet in the early type of combat or field dress. Notwithstanding that local arrangement there was never an official badge issued for observers or ground crew.
Our thanks for your interest in this matter.

Comments: Hi,
Very much a shot in the dark, but I would welcome any information that anyone might have on RAF 665 Squadron (RCAF), as I own an Auster AOP5 which was flown by them during the squadrons short life near the end of WW2.

Comments: My father was Capt. Gord Walker. I am thrilled to look at this site and see so many familiar names and faces. My brother, Bill Walker, for years developed and maintained a website of Canadian military aircraft, their histories and eventual disposition. Bill died of cancer in late 2016: however he had made arrangements before his death to have his website taken over and managed by the aviation museum staff in Hamilton. I believe the site can still be found at rwrwalker.com, and may provide additional information for you. Thanks again for your work on this site. It brought back many happy memories of my dad and fellows who flew with him.

Comments: My Dad retired Major Nick Mulikow always told us kids if he died flying, thats the way he wanted it. Unfortunately it was Cancer that took him from our lives Dec. 2011. To help him on his way, I whispered in his ear the best moments of his flying career ending with his favorite ,flying a Helicopter thru the Grand Cayon. If anyone had pictures of my Dad , I would appreciate them.

Comments: With reference to a comment I submitted 12 Aug 16 pertaining to the Wartime Section of the website and a request for further identification (first name and Wartime sqn) of some of the Wartime Air OP pilots documented in that section, no reply of an sort, from anyone, has been received as of this date. Either there has been no visitors to the site since my comment was posted or there is absolutely no-one on this side of the sod who has ever known any of the individuals identified well enough to provide the information requested. I ask once again for any visitors to the site to try and recollect the individuals in question and provide me with whatever they can by way of first name and/or sqn. Even an "educated guess" would be of value. Your help would be greatly appreciated as time is surely not on our side. Cheers. JohnD
